vab RPM repository

Fedora packages for a few command-line tools, rebuilt nightly from their GitHub releases.

Add the repository

Fedora (dnf5):

sudo dnf config-manager addrepo \
  --from-repofile=https://vincentarelbundock.github.io/rpm/vab.repo

RHEL, Rocky, AlmaLinux and older Fedora (dnf4):

sudo curl -fsSL -o /etc/yum.repos.d/vab.repo \
  https://vincentarelbundock.github.io/rpm/vab.repo

dnf asks you to confirm the signing key the first time it installs from here. Its fingerprint is D87F 0902 9A47 8448 132D 1E1A 0266 1C78 C999 67CA.

The packages themselves are signed with a subkey of that key, ID d9e85f8aa77d837c, which is what rpm -K prints. Before the key is imported, rpm -K cannot tie that subkey to anything and reports NOKEY; after sudo rpm --import https://vincentarelbundock.github.io/rpm/RPM-GPG-KEY-vab (or the first dnf install), it reports OK.

Install

sudo dnf install calepin
sudo dnf install scrutin
sudo dnf install pulpit
sudo dnf install dadrock
sudo dnf install dadrock-desktop

After that, sudo dnf upgrade picks up new versions.

Notes

The packages here are the same binaries published on each project's GitHub releases page. This repository does not build them; it fetches, indexes and signs them, which is what lets dnf upgrade notice a new version instead of you checking a releases page by hand.

Only stable releases are served. Prereleases stay on GitHub.

RHEL, Rocky and AlmaLinux 9: the repository works there, but calepin, pulpit, dadrock and dadrock-desktop currently need a newer glibc than EL9 ships (2.35 vs 2.34), so they install and then fail at startup. scrutin works.

Debian and Ubuntu users: see the apt repository.
